Coronavirus Cancellations: 3/13/20

The following is a list of Mid-Hudson Valley and Catskills cancellations, postponements and operational changes due to concerns about the coronavirus. This list will be updated whenever new information becomes available.

• The Kingston City School District will be closed on Friday, March 13, "due to a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the KCSD community," according to the district. "We will monitor the situation closely and send more information as it becomes available over the weekend," the district posted. No further information was available.

• The Town of Esopus Town Hall in Port Ewen will be closed on Friday, March 13. Information will be available atwww.esopus.com. Town Supervisor Shannon Harris posted late Thursday that, "This evening I was informed by Ulster County officials that there has been a confirmed case of the COVID-19 virus in Port Ewen.The individual tested positive after reporting related symptoms to their doctor." There was no indication if this is the same or related to the confirmed case in the Kingston High School District community announced by the district earlier that evening.

• The Saugerties School district is limiting large indoor gatherings, it said on Thursday. Canceled events are the Mardi Gras Dance, scheduled for Friday, March 13; the Grant D. Morse Lip Sync, originally scheduled for March 20; and the Spring Carnival originally scheduled for March 21.

• The Ellenville school district has postponed all indoor after school events with mass gatherings through the end of March. Postponed are the FUTSAL Tournament on March 14; PTO sponsored Girls Someone Special Dance on March 13; PTO sponsored Boys Someone Special Dance on March 20; and High School Musical, Into the Woods, originality scheduled for March 20 and 21.

• Woodstock Day school is closed today. 

• The Ulster County Civil Division is suspending all evictions.

• SUNY Ulster has suspended athletic eventsthrough March.

• State winter championships have been indefinitely postponed.

 • Archdiocese of NY elementary schools, including Kingston Catholic, will be closed March 16-20.

• SUNY classes to be taught online only for rest of semester due to virus concerns; New Paltz extends spring break.

•  Colleges in Mid-Hudson Valley, including Marist, Vassar and Bard,have made changes in their schedules and programs.

• Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh has closed its campus. Classes will be taught online.

• The "Farming While Black with Leah Penniman" live event scheduled for the YMCA in Kingston on Friday, March 13, has been canceled. Organizers will be hosting aFacebook Live eventIn its place at 6 p.m.

• The benefit fundraiser for Taylor Block scheduled for 7 p.m. March 13 at the Reformed Church of Saugerties has been postponed indefinitely.

 • The Bardavon in Poughkeepsie and the Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston have canceled all events "for a minimum of 30 days."  

• The Kingston Winter Farmers Market will not take place on Saturday, March 14. Market organizers said that customers can reach out to local farms directly. Visitkingstonfarmersmarket.org/winter-marketfor more information.

• The Sloop Clearwater March Open Boat, scheduled for Saturday, March 14, at the Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston, has been canceled. Visitwww.clearwater.org/calendar-of-eventsfor more information.

• The Kerhonkson Synagogue has canceled its Purim Party scheduled for Saturday, March 14.

• The Woodstock School of Art, 2470 Route 212, Woodstock, has canceled the upcoming Student Exhibition 1 reception scheduled for Saturday, March 14, but the exhibition is on view through May 2.

 • The Woodstock Artists Association & Museum has canceled its upcoming opening reception scheduled for Saturday, March 14. More info:woodstockart.org.

• The 48th annual Hudson Valley Philharmonic string competition, scheduled for March 14-15 at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, has been canceled.

 • The Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society concert scheduled for Sunday, March 15, at the Morton Library in Rhinecliff has been canceled. The concert will be rescheduled and tickets purchased will be honored.

The Kingston St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Shamrock Runevents scheduled for Sunday, March 15, are postponed.

• The Saugerties Pro Musica concert featuring the Ekstasis Piano & Cello Duo, scheduled for Sunday, March 15, at the Saugerties United Methodist Church, has been canceled.

 • The Town of Ulster Russell Brott Senior Center will be closed beginning on March 16, 2020. It is scheduled to reopen on April 1.

• The town of Kingston has canceled its March 16 meeting about the proposed 850 Route 28 project.

• The Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce's annual St. Patrick's Day breakfast, scheduled for Tuesday, March 17 at the Best Western Plus Hotel in Kingston, will not be held. Also canceled is the chamber's March 19 mixer at Mariner's Harbor in Kingston and the Young Ulster Professionals' March 26 trivia event at the Best Western.

 • The Texas Roadhouse in the town of Ulster has postponed the Veterans luncheon scheduled for March 18.

• Woodstock Bookfest 2020, scheduled for March 26-29, has been canceled.

• Swing dance classes by Linda and Chester Freeman in Clermont, Newburgh and Kingston, and the swing dance at White Hall in Kingston, are canceled.

 • The May 6 Hudson Valley Veterans Job Fair at SUNY New Paltz has been canceled.

• The Senior Corps MLK Community Resource Day originally set for March 26 has been postponed. No new date was available.

• The Saugerties Democratic Committee has postponed its March 26 forum with author Anne Nelson. No new date has been announced.

• The Anderson Center for Autism's Community Field Day, scheduled for Saturday, April 18, in Rhinebeck, has been canceled.

 • The Woodstock Farm Sanctuary in High Falls will not be opening in April, as has been customary, but expects to open May 3 for members and May 9 to the public. More info:woodstocksanctuary.org.

• Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan and Ulster's annual Celebration of Charity and Caritas Awards Dinner has been postponed until Tuesday, June 9, at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor.

 •Some nursing homes in Ulster and Dutchess counties have barred visitors.

• The Ulster County Jail has suspended visits to inmates.
