Call for unattended children leads to drug arrest

from Columbia County Sheriff's Office:

* Ramiro Pinell, 58, of Hudson, was arrested at 3:54pm April 2 and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (All Class A Misdemeanors) by Sergeant Donald Krapf, Deputy Thomas Merante, and Deputy Peter Merante. 

Deputies were dispatched to the Greenport Town Park on Joslen Blvd for 2 children who were left unattended at the park. Deputies located Pinell, who was interviewed and found in possession of a quantity of heroin. Deputies also located a hypodermic needle. 

He was arraigned in Greenport Town Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear back in court at a later date.
